Following the destruction of their homeworld the interstellar Skrull empire was in chaos until the exiled queen Veranke returned to power with one goal: conquer the Earth from within by replacing its most trusted heroes!

Not content to simply watch from the sidelines she joined this Secret Invasion herself by impersonating Spider-Woman. In doing so she infiltrated the Avengers S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra sowing distrust and paving the way for a full-scale Skrull assault.
