Inventors and engineers are busy in the Victorian era mastering gears steam and electricity to build machines in the name of Queen Victoria!
In the steampunk worker placement game Steam Works your people work to collect parts and power sources to build amazing machines. Those machines become new action fields for all players to use!
Each player is an inventor with unique starting components or special abilities that only they can use. But the core of the game is assembling modules into machines that other players can use. Players use one or more of three power sources — gears steam or Tesla electricity — along with components that produce different effects such as resources prestige points or more components. Machines start out simple with just two components (one power source and one component) but over time it becomes possible to create more complicated machines — if one of the players builds a machine that allows it. Because of the versatile uses of the components the action options vary from game to game so the game never gets boring!
