Description:
The Calibrators is the game about guessing Concepts by using properly placed Descriptors. Remember that Concepts can be explained not only by listing their characteristics but also by skilfully placing certain Descriptors in the ‘This is not…’ field.
All Descriptors should come from popular dictionary. Try to avoid using archaic expressions and overly sophisticated vocabulary. Descriptors should describe (or be the negation of) as many Concepts as possible. Try to use fairly general characteristics that describe a large proportion of your Concepts.
It may be the case that the translations of two different descriptors from English into your language are synonyms. In that case use a different word. Avoid pairs of Descriptors that are antonyms of each other. If you draw both of these tokens in a single round it won’t move the game forward. You may always swap a word for its antonym if it creates a better word removes a bit of ambiguity or reduces a semantic overlap with another descriptor. In the list of descriptors you will sometimes find notes intended to help you understand the meaning behind the word used. Even if you use a different word in your own language try to follow the meaning given there.
