The Pz.Kpfw. II (or Panzer II) was an excellent light or reconnaissance tank and served with German forces from the first days of the war right through to the last.

The Cruiser Mk. IV fought in France in 1940 and in the early stages of the North African Campaign before it was eventually replaced by the Crusader.

After the Germans first adopted the use of StuG assault guns the Italians started working on their own vehicle of a similar type using the M13/40 medium tank as the basis for the design.
